There is no such thing as membership in a local church.  Pish posh! We are members of the worldwide Body of Christ only  - we belong fully to Christ and every other fellow member  in the Body of Christ  - where we meet and who we meet with do not define who we are. We are a spiritual building,  built by God, not a natural one made by man.

"Church membership" is a fleshly,  carnal way to get people to stay. The Holy Spirit decides who we meet with and where on any given day  -  not just Sunday. 

Every member of the Body is fully recognized as such the moment they walk in and remains so when they leave.
