Jeremiah chapter 50 verses thirty seven and thirty eight

"A sword is upon their horses, and upon their chariots, and upon all the mingled people that are in the midst of her; and they shall become as women: a sword is upon her treasures; and they shall be robbed. A drought is upon her waters; and they shall be dried up: for it is the land of graven images, and they are mad upon their idols".
These verses contain the last two of the "sword judgments". Verse 37 reveals the second of two major root meanings of the word "Babylon" (the first beign confusion), that is "mixture". Those in Babylon mingle the Holy with the profane, the lie with the truth, the flesh with the spirit. God consistently warns us about mingling - "Ye shall keep my statutes. Thou shalt not let thy cattle gender with a diverse kind: thou shalt not let sow thy field with mingled seed; neither shall a garment mingled of linen and woolen come upon thee" (Lev:19:19). Concerning the pagan peoples God was driving out of the land he promised to his people Israel, he commanded - "Neither shalt thou make marriages with them; thy daughter thou shalt not give unto his son, nor his daughter shalt thou take unto thy son" (Dt:7:3). One of the greatest indictments against mixture is found in 2 Corinthians 6:14-18.
God's ways are not like man's. He is not trying to foster racial hatred and predjudice. He is trying to teach us something. He does not mix. "The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out WITHOUT MIXTURE into the cup of his indignation" (Rev:14:10). So we see that mixture is a hallmark of Babylon, while purity is a hallmark of God's kingdom. As we leave Babylon behind, more and more as the Day draws nigh, we leave behind mixture with this world, with anything not pure and Holy, with the leaven of the Pharisees (religious pride). We will no longer have "fellowship with devils". We will no longer drink the "cup of the Lord and the cup of devils" (1 Cor:10:21). We will no longer be "partakers of the Lord's table and the table of devils" (1 Cor:10:21). Warning: always remember that "NOW the serpent was MORE SUBTIL than any beast" (Gen:3:1). If the demonic spirit of Religion cannot keep a saint from this truth, of avoiding mixture, he himself will encourage us to separate, to "come out and be separate", only when we do it at his urging, we are separating not to our Holy God but to the false religious spirit. When this happens we think by not mixing with other christians from other denominations, we are pleasing God and remaining pure. We think if we don't do or whatever this spirit commands us, we are becoming Holy. Nothing could be further from the truth. We are not made Holy outwardly by following a set of rules and traditions, no we can only be made Holy inwardly through the sanctifying presence of the Holy Spirit himself, abiding in us through the blood of the Lamb. His presence makes us Holy and not we ourselves, not anything we can do or not do. Yes, the Holy Spirit may lead us to separate from others but when he does so the ones he is separating us from are in Babylon and are "tare christians". When the Holy Spirit leads us away from man, into the wilderness, we leave without bitterness but love for those still in bondage.
Here in Jeremiah 50:37&38, their horses and their treasures are judged. I believe that as she spoiled and robbed God's people, so shall she be robbed. Just as Egypt was stripped of her wealth, gained through the blood and sweat of Israeli slaves, just as Egypt have her wealth to Israel as she fled from her, as she came out of her and became separate, so in these last days we will see a similar spoiling, a great transfer of wealth from Babylon to God's kingdom, to God's people. We will need this wealth when Satan makes his final, desperate gambit by forbidding those in his kingdom to buy or sell without the mark, or the name of the beast or the number of his name. Wealthy believers God has raised up and placed in strategic locations around the world will come forward at this point and offer protection and preservation to many of God's saints as they give all to God's chosen people. God is preparing many even now to be able to grow and produce their own food so as not to be dependant on man.
In verse 38, God declares a drought for it is a land of "graven images and idols". A direct result of idolatry will always be a dearth, a drought of true spiritual food and drink, of the Holy Spirit's good and pure flow. Graven images are merely an outward expression of an inward condition (idolatry). See Ezekial 14:3. Anytime, anywhere, man exalts the work of his hands, his wisdom, his strength, his beauty, any image, especially his own and gives his heart, his passion, his time and attention to them (his worship), this is an affront to God, who alone should receive our adoration. We should be consumed with him and no one else. "Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image" (Ex:20:4). Anywhere you see idols set up (Asia and Ireland and India, etc. are full of them), you can be sure they are under the rule of Babylon.
We are certainly not immune to any of this in the west. Our idols today can be church buildings, our doctrines, TV shows or movies or sports, anything we are passionate about more than him, anything we pursue (money) that he doesn't put in our hearts to pursue. Any achievement or ours that doesn't glorify and honor God, "For I the Lord thy God am a jealous God" (Ex:20:5). A sword is upon her treasures and they shall be robbed could also be referring to a modern day tragedy. The Roman Catholic church is currently being stripped of her vast wealth around the world because of the abuse scandals. In the U.S.A. alone they've paid over 2 BILLION DOLLARS to the victims of abuse and there is no end in sight. But it will not stop with them, all churches in Babylon will find themselves being stripped of their worldly wealth, the forbidden gold found in Achan's tent because they forsook heavenly wealth, true riches, "gold tried in the fire, white raiment and eye salve that they may see" (Rev:3:18). These three things are what we all need desparately in this hour. These are essential to surviving these last days. Faith, Purity and Spiritual clarity of hearing and vision.
