The Chasm

I've tried yes I've tried
and I've strived and I've strived
to reach the other side
but this chasm between us
is just too wide...

I've begun to despair
there seems to be no way
to get from here to there.
Oh my God my sin is so great!
How can I escape my fate?

As I looked with longing at what I could not reach,
I saw, oh my God, you were coming to me!
My heart beat excitedly, as finally,
hope rose within my breast,
You've not abandoned me or left me homeless.
As you approach closer to the ridge
I see your plan
is for your cross to form a bridge
on which I can stand!
I am so overwhelmed
that I can now go
from earth to Heaven's realm.
Now that I've begun to go
I hear the cries of the damned from far below
I feel the flames of that eternal inferno
And I see as I continue my journey
the Cross's beams are narrow, no room for straying
from side to side,
I must go straight as an arrow
that the Lord's hand has let fly.
And I see the beam is straight
no crooked way is in it
So I must not deviate
from your path, not for a single minute.
And this too I see -
I cannot walk this path comfortably
Fleshly pleasures cannot come with me
Worldly pursuits I may not carry
I must give up          so much
only your yolk may I touch
only your cloak may I wear
only my brother's burdens may I bear
So now I see, as i continue my journey
the Cross is your extended mercy
and the path on which I may escape your wrath,
Eternally.

If they came to arrest you for being a Christian,
would there be enough evidence to get a conviction?
Is Christ on display? Is he plain to see?
Or is he veiled in obscurity?
Tell me, yes tell me -
Does anyone know?
Oh no,
not just by your words but also by your deeds,
that Christ is who you follow, faithfully?
Or are you a part time believer dependin' on who you're seein',
you change your role like a human chameleon?
Just goin' to church isn't what I'm talkin' about.
You have to be Christian from the inside out.
You have to let him shine through.
You have to bear him fruit.
And miracles will help you make your case too.
But above all, the love you share
is what they'll need to convict you...

Shoot the rapids.   Parasail.
Run with the bulls  (but don't get impaled).
Get out of your routine.
Show some spontaneity.
Go somewhere you've never been.
Maybe Tahiti,      or Sweden.
Do something you've never done -
climb Mt. Kilimanjaro and watch the rising sun.
Get your heart pumping again
with excitement at what lies
just around the bend.
Walk the entire length of the Tea road.
Punch a great white on the nose,
I don't know,   just go!
The whole world's just waiting to be explored
but you gotta take the first step and walk out your front door,
You gotta leave your home,
in other words, your comfort zone.
Don't wait, don't hesitate,
or one day, it'll be too late.....

Oh my God I give to Thee
my heart as your dowry,
my tongue as your fountain pen
my soul as your inheritance.
Let us be,        exclusively,
one another's,       eternally

I'm as naked as you were on the Cross
I've taken my fig leaf off
My shame is exposed for all to see
I need you Lord to cover me
Take me as your bride for eternity

I'm through
running from you
I fix my heart towards you
oh my Lord I adore you

You've forgiven me far more than
seventy times seven
I can never repay you for what you've given
All I can do, what you've wanted from the start,
Lord Jesus, is give you my heart...

I want to challenge you   as you study the Bible
to dig deeper than you ever have before
Oh! There are pearls of wisdom
and hidden jewels galore!
Great mysteries just waiting to unfold,
prophecies spoken long ago
now coming to pass as he foretold.
Heresies to be unmasked
A multitude of questions just waiting to be asked
Glimpses of Eternity that will steal your heart away
His Word will preserve you
and seal you for the Judgment Day.
Your feet will not stumble on the path of Righteousness
At the Wedding Feast of the Lamb you will be called "Blessed"
As you hide his word in your heart
not just your mind
A course for your soul he will chart
that will last throughout time
TIll the Day has fully dawned
and all will see what is written on
your forehead by God himself -
"You are mine and all is well
Your scent is of Heaven and not of Hell
Come, enter into my everlasting joy
where every tear will be wiped clear
as sorrow and pain flee far from here
You are my beloved in whom I am well pleased,
come, oh come as your bonds are released!
Our love for one another shall never cease
