How bad will my circumstances be
before i let you have the bad in me?
How broken must i become
before i act like your son?
Oh Lord how long will i
rebel against and despise
your presence in my life?
How long will you be
patient with me?
Your love is all that's keeping me
from Hell for all eternity.
Your patience, grace and mercy
are all that's keeping me
from hell for all eternity.
Take my heart and break my heart
from the inside out -
and from the rubble and debris
make my heart new and holy,
that it may be yours to treasure and posses,
a source of joy and happiness
for all eternity....

Be Thou my vision, Lord, be Thou my Hope
Be Thou the one through whom I may now cope
Be Thou my life and lifestyle, Amen
Be Thou the One who yet now moves my pen.

Be Thou the Bread and the Wine I consume
May Thou in my Father’s house make me room
Thou did not love Thy life unto the death
But for me gave up Your lips final breath.

So now I give You my heart for this cause
Now I will praise You and for You I pause
To now give thanks for all that You have done
And celebrate the news – my soul You’ve won!

Be Thou my purpose and reason to live
Be Thou the One to whom my heart I give
Be Thou the first and the last love I know
Be Thou the bridge to my soul’s final home.

Jesus I love You and praise You this day
For to our Father You’ve now made a way
And sent Thy Spirit to guide us all home
Forever we’ll love You and we’ll not roam.

We are Yours now, Lord and forever more
Oh what great wonders for us have been stored!
Our lips will never cease to give You Praise
Your banner of Love forever we’ll raise.

My version of the lovely Irish Hymn, “Be Thou my Vision”

Friday, December 9, 2016

March winds blow idly across the manicured landscape of a forgotten city.
A businessman pauses near a homeless beggar trying to decide whether to extend disdain or pity.
In the distance a dog barks plaintively.
Hearts disconnected will soon die of lack of intimacy.
Once we love only ourselves,
we're on a path to Hell.
Once we can't obey God's prompting to
love someone we're not wanting to -
We're wasting our days with our selfish ways.
Love chooses indiscriminately
and love responds to needs,
and love's eyes are open wide.
Love sees;
Who we contact each and every day
provides love with many opportunities.
When you leave someone's presence,
think -     did I love them?
Is God pleased?

The beggar looks the businessman in the eye
saying without speaking -         why?
The businessman's thoughts have already moved on
to where should I eat dinner tonight and who should I invite along?

At church that Sunday he raises
his voice in praise
for the wealth he's been given
by God's amazing grace...

Thank you Father for this day,
for helping me to handle
whatever comes my way,
for keeping my feet on
the path they should be,
for cherishing and loving me
ever so deeply,
for guarding my heart
and my tongue
and keeping my eyes
on Jesus, the Holy One,
the Beauty of Holiness,
my firstborn among many brethren,
the Lily of my Valley,
the Apple of my eye,
the One who will draw me
to join Him in the sky,
the Savior of my soul,
the One who makes me whole,
the One who wrote my name
in that Eternal Scroll......
