Think about this: God's people after the flesh - His own flesh and blood brethren, did not recognize Himwhen He appeared among them. Most had no idea He was their Messiah, their very God, the One they worshipped and prayed to in their endless religious ceremonies and rituals. Most missed His coming completely. Some actually begged Him to leave them. They wanted nothing to do with Him. Others recognized, at least, that He was of God, if not God HIMSELF, yet they hardened their hearts against Him. Their leadership rejected Him to the extent they crucified Him. They put to death the very One who formed them in the womb and breathed life into their nostrils. They despised the One sent to deliver and save them. His very name (Jesus) meant "The Lord Saves".
Now, let's take a look at God's people today - those born not of flesh only but of Spirit. "Christians". Many of them, too, have missed His presence - unable to recognize Him spiritually, as their God, when He appears among them in the person of the Holy Spirit - when He visits them - just as the Jews, His people after the flesh did not recognize Him. Many Christians today don't know who He is, what He looks like, what He sounds like, feels like, spiritually. Like then, many today disrespect Him, ignore Him or cast Him away from their presence: if He shows up among them in Spirit. They seek to crucify the Holy Spirit today just as they sought to crucify Jesus then. Anyone, full of The Spirit - walking in His anointing - is asked (or told) to leave. Their ministry is put to death - usually through the power of the tongue. Leadership harden their hearts against Him today just as they did back then. They reject Him like the Pharisees did, so they can remain in charge of, in control of, God's people. Because they are carnal and not spiritual - they seek the praise of men - they crave man's approval - they lust for power, position, and authority, all the while pretending to serve the One they've crucified (in their hearts).
Yet, as then, so too today there is a remnant - who readily and joyfully accept Him, who desire His presence, who genuinely love Him and prove it by obeying Him. They learn His ways and His thoughts - not man's. They love people, not programs, souls not sermons - serving, not being served. They are passionately, wholeheartedly in love with God! Like the very first saints - they're separated from the religious systems of their day - called out of and away from it. They may visit a church building now and then - as the Spirit leads, but they prefer to meet in homes, where the Holy Spirit is welcomed and revered, and free to express the Father's will, the Father's love and the Father's Son - Jesus. They live in the moment - not past or future glory.
"For my people are foolish, they know me not. They are stupid children and have no understanding. They are skilled in doing evil but they do not know how to do good".
"The Ox knows it's owner, and a Donkey it's master's manger, but (my Church) does not know, my people do not understand ".
"Don't use Me as an excuse to do evil" - The Lord
